Why have I chosen to take Media?

Hello there! Welcome to my Media Blog. As one of my tasks set for my summer work, I was asked to create a Vox Pop about why I have chosen to take Media Studies, so I have written the reasons that answer this question here:

Personally, I think Media is an exciting subject in which you can always learn something new. I originally wanted to take Media for GCSE but didn't end up taking it, which is something I do regret to this day as my friends who took the subject kept saying to me what great fun it was and it made me realize I still have an opportunity to take the subject at A-Level. The subject opens our eyes to the world around us, allowing us to explore the meanings behind certain things and how these certain things can be presented to audiences; it shows us how films, magazines, TV shows etc can be tailored to their targeted audience.

On a more personal level, ever since my sister took journalism at college and did a degree in Media Studies, I have always been interested. I was able to see the work she had to do and the kind of things it involved, which sparked the idea: I want a job in Media! My job ideas have frequently changed but they have always stayed within the same area: Media. I currently want to be a music or a film journalist, meaning this course will help me achieve that dream. I do have a great interest in film and I know that is what this course involves and I would love to learn more about it.

As I didn't take Media for GCSE, it will be a new opportunity for me and a fresh start, in which I choose to take and pursue with great passion and I really do look forward to the next two years of hard work!
